Upminster’s We Are Fstvl will return bigger but quieter next year when it opens its gates to an extra 10,000 revellers.
Lime Green Events’ plans to raise the capacity of the Damyns Hall Aerodrome dance music event from 15,000 to 24,999 were passed today, despite objections from a ward councillor and residents.
But the company’s hopes of securing a five-year contract were scratched as part of a compromise, which also saw the cut-off time for alcohol sales brought forward to 12.30am from 2am.
Upminster councillor Linda Van Den Hende wanted the capacity to remain at 15,000.
“There were 79 thefts from person at the last event,” she said during the Havering Town Hall meeting. “That doubled crime in the southern part of the borough. Criminal activity at the event will increase with another 10,000 people.”
