A social media storm followed Monday’s launch of the new C2C timetable, which saw smaller trains pull into the station on the busy commuters route to Fenchurch Street in central London.
Many commuters said being left standing in the rammed carriages while others were unable to board at all.
The C2C new timetable, based on customers’ feedback, was introduced to improve the service for other stations with the metro style carriages intended to create more space for commuters on shorter journeys.
But the changes have reduced capacity through Rainham and Upminster, with eight fewer carriages travelling through at peak times.
Twitter account SaveOurSeatsc2c has been campaigning against the changes for some time.
